What a Round of Golf Can Do

NAIFA Memphis Annual Charity Golf Classic

The Memphis chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) hosts it's annual Charity Golf Classic at beautiful Mirimichi Golf Course to benefit Camp Good Grief. NAIFA holds this tournament on our behalf because, as insurance and financial advisors, they often see the business side of grief. This golf tournament funds the human side by supporting bereavements camps, which are programs of the Kemmons Wilson Family Center for Good Grief. At the tournament, everyone is a winner from a possible new owner of a Roadshow BMW to the last-place team that can garner free golf lessons. Real winners are the campers, because camps are free of charge for grieving children, teens and adults. Through a mix of remembrance and play, they learn to cope with the devastation of losing a loved one.

Cardiac Classic Golf Tournament

On the fourth Monday in May, Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation holds the annual Cardiac Classic at Spring Creek Ranch in Collierville, TN. Golfers enjoy a great game while raising funds to benefit Baptist Heart Institute. One program that has benefited from the tournament is “Transitional Living,” a “bridge to home” for heart transplant recipients and those who wear Ventricular Assist Devices (VAD) and are almost ready to return home but still need to remain near the hospital for continued care. Individuals must live beyond a 50-mile radius of Baptist Memorial Hospital - Memphis to qualify for the no-cost accommodations at an extended-stay hotel. The "home-like" setting provides a hot breakfast each morning and a shuttle service for convenient transportation to and from the hotel and hospital. As an added bonus, the hotel staff provides tender loving care while watching over their special guests. More information will follow.
